Lush Shampoo Bar (Seanik) – A Review

Those who know me will know just how much I adore treating myself to some Lush products from time to time. A couple of weeks ago, Liverpool opened the worlds largest Lush store and I just had to go and visit! It is safe to say that I was not disappointed.

The new store in Liverpool is incredible! With an array of beautiful products such as shower gels, shower bombs, bath bombs, bubble bars, body lotions, hair products, perfumes and so much more… not to mention the Lush spa, hairdressers and flower stall… you can imagine the combination of sweet fragrances filling the air.

The layout of the store is also amazing, despite the store being extremely busy during my visit, I felt calm and content whilst browsing and there was plenty of staff on hand for information and advice!

During this visit, I managed to control my spending and only purchased some necessary items. My purchase included their well known and much-loved ‘Sex Bomb’ bath bomb, a beautiful shower gift set for my mum (as it was mothers day weekend!) and my first ever shampoo bar, in which I chose their Seanik bar.

When I saw the shelves in the store filled with these cute macaroon shaped bars I could not resist taking a closer look. When I read that these little round bars were solid shampoos, I was very intrigued to know more. There was quite a variety to choose from, but I decided on the Seanik bar as the write-up for this product said that is was a great way to give your hair a natural beach wave look and my hair is naturally curly and frizzy, so I was hoping that this little bar would take away some of my frizz.
However, before purchasing this subtly scented bar of bubbles, I wanted to know more about them, so I went to find a member of staff to answer some of my questions. Finding a member of staff was very easy and I was greeted with a very friendly hello and warming smile. I asked the lady how the shampoo bars work and how long will they last… in response I was told that you simply run the bar under the shower and rub it between your hands before applying the substance to your hair, or you could wet your hair and the shampoo bar and rub the bar directly onto your hair and then use your hands to lather up the substance, I was also told that a little bit goes a long way. Then the lady looked at me and she said that these shampoo bars last the same time as almost three bottles of shampoo! Giving you between 80-100 washes! My eyes widened and I stared at the palm-sized bar in my hand… how could this small bar of soap wash my tatty curly mane that many times? I have to admit I was a little bit sceptical.

Despite my minor doubts, I headed to the checkout counter with my products, satisfied with my mini-haul.
The shampoo bar cost £7.50 and came completely unpackaged. The lady who served me at the till asked me if I had used the shampoo bar before, to which I admittingly said no. She then informed me that you can purchase storage tins for them at the small cost of £2.50, so that the residue from the bar stays in the tin and you can get as much use from it as possible. I kindly declined this offer as I have a little glass dish at home to keep mine in for the time being; however, if I like the product and decide to buy more in the future, then I will definitely consider buying the storage tin.

Overall I spent approximately £30 on my lovely Lush products, quite the bargain if you ask me!

When I got home that evening I switched on the shower and decided to give my Seanik Shampoo Bar a try.
I was pleasantly surprised by how much this bar lathered up on my hair (I definitely used too much this time around!) I rubbed the soapy bubbles into my hair, enjoying the beautiful scent before rinsing it out. Whilst rinsing, I have to say I felt as though it was going to leave my hair feeling dry, but once it was fully rinsed and I conditioned my hair, it felt super soft!
When I got out of the shower, I towel dried my hair and left it to dry naturally (hair dryers turn me into a lion…)

When my hair had fully dried, I went to my mirror to investigate. It looked lovely and shiny and felt very soft… it also looked a lot less frizzy than usual! SUCCESS!

It has now been a month since my purchase and my shampoo bar is still very full, I definitely see it lasting another 2 months (if not longer!), I am very impressed and I cannot wait to visit the store again in future and purchase more of these lovely little bars. I already have my next two scents lined up to try (the ‘New’ shampoo bar and the ‘Soak and Float’ bar). I am also intrigued to try their solid conditioners too!

I would highly recommend these shampoo bars to others, each bar has different qualities and claims to do various things for your hair so I am sure you can find one best suited to your needs!
To top of these wonderful bars, they are not tested on animals and they are extremely friendly for the environment as they come naked, meaning they have no packaging whatsoever! They last as long as 3 bottles of shampoo, so they are definitely worth the price. They are also great for travelling as they take up virtually no space in your suitcase!
