Global Day of Parents

I am lucky to have my mum and dad. They have always supported me in my life choices, encouraged me to pursue my dreams and made sure that I never gave up on anything, even when times got tough.

We have made so many incredible memories together, experienced lots of fun and exciting times, but they have also been strict with me if and when necessary.  Together they have played a huge role in making me the person that I am today and I could not thank them enough for sticking by me and believing in me.

I understand that not everyone has the same family set up that I have. Some people may have parents who are separated, they may have two fathers or two mothers, they may live in a foster home with foster parents or have adopted parents… this does not matter! All that matters is that they love you and that they encourage you to be the very best version of yourself, they keep you safe and help you through the harder parts of life.  We are lucky to have people who care so much about our present as well as our future.

Some people do not have the same supportive experience as others. So cherish the parents that you have, treat them with kindness and respect, love them and care for them as they do for you. Sadly our loved ones are not here forever, so make every day count.

This is just a short appreciation post for my parents. I love them both unconditionally and I would go to the end of the Earth and back for them in a heartbeat. Yes, we may not see eye to eye all of the time, but what kind of relationship does? I wish I could spoil them both rotten as God knows they deserve it for putting up with me for the last 23 years! One day I hope to do just that.
