Last month I took my beautiful mum for afternoon tea at The Hilton Hotel in Liverpool as a birthday treat!
We arrived in Liverpool at 12pm where we were greeted by the Pride Parades! Our afternoon tea was booked in for 2pm, so we decided to watch the parade and take a look at the events that were happening. The parade was amazing, it was so nice to see thousands of people coming together, from all across the country, from all different backgrounds and all different ages, to support LGBTQ+ Community. I will definintely be taking part next year!
My mum enjoyed watching the parade too, seeing all the creative outfits, drag queens looking insanely beautiful, children dressed in brightly coloured clothes with huge smiles on their faces, dogs walking with their owners with multicoloured coats and accessories on, bands walking around playing upbeat feel good music and so much more! And the rain did not stop people from enjoying themselves. It was a wonderful day, I just wish we knew about the parade earlier as we could have dressed for the occassion and joined in!
The hours passed us by rather quickly and before we knew it, it was time to head to The Hilton for our afternoon tea. When we arrived we were made to feel very welcome by the staff who were all very friendly and although we arrived a little bit early, they took us straight to our table to be seated! The waitress asked us whether we had any allergies or preferences when it comes to the food that we were to be served, to which we both replied ‘no onions’ (like mother like daughter!)
She made a note and headed off to the kitchen. When she returned shortly after, she presented us with a bottle of champagne and kindly poured us a glass each. She then asked us what hot drink we would like with our food and listed some choices:
- Earl Grey
I chose an Earl Grey and my mum had a coffee. Shortly after, the waitress brought out a teapot for me and a caffetire for my mum, which gave us roughly two cups each!
Then our food arrived and it looked amazing! There was a selection of cakes on the top tier, all pink in colour, freshly made scones in the centre and a variety of sandwiches on the bottom (ham and cheese for us as the other options contained onions). We did not know where to start as it all looked delicious!
The sandwiches were lovely, they were very fresh and they had the crusts cut off of them which was an added bonus. The cakes on top were to die for! Though they were all different so we had some trouble deciding who would get what cakes! I had a lovely red velvet cake, a pastry based cake and a trifle and they were all incredible. It is safe to say that we cleared the entire stand without difficulty!
It was a very relaxing atmosphere, the staff where very tentative to our needs, coming over to see if we needed anything else and to ask if everything was okay which was really lovely. We had a really great catch up and fully enjoyed ourselves. I will definitely be booking this again in the future, even if it is not for a special occassion!
The price of this lovely afternoon tea for two costs £19.99! We added a glass of bubbly for an extra £5.00 and with our booking being on a Saturday we had to pay a surcharge of £10 per person, so overall this cost me £35 for the two of us, which I think was definitely worth it!
I made my reservation through groupon, however it is the same price to book it through The Hilton themselves. Here is the link for the booking that I made in Liverpool:
