Summary of Dying Matters Week 2020

Last week we here at SeeTheUniverse took part in Dying Matters Week to discuss some of the important topics around death, dying and bereavement as part of this years theme; ‘Dying To Be Heard’.

Throughout the week we spoke about the following topics:

  • Traumatic and Sudden Deaths
  • Organ Donation
  • Funeral Plans and Writing Wills
  • Putting the ‘Fun’ in Funeral
  • Grief and Mental Health
  • End of Life Care

Overall I feel as though we have learned a lot about other people as well as ourselves. It was interesting to share viewpoints, experiences and opinions.

I feel as though the week was rather successful; we even hosted our very first Instagram Live (Which you can view here!) We hosted various interactive social media posts, including questions and polls which were all really fun to do and we enjoyed hearing from our lovely followers and supporters.

It is so important to remember that talking about these things are not morbid, but essential. Death, dying and bereavement are all inevitable parts of life, things that we will all experience at some point or another. So just because Dying Matters Week has come to an end, does not mean that the conversations should! So keep talking, keep expressing your thoughts and opinions and keep on being you.

You can check out all of our Dying Matters Week Blog Posts here!

Due to the week being so successful, especially in regards to the social media posts and the live stream, we will definitely be hosting more Q&A’s in the future along with other interview style Instagram Lives… we even hope to get some guests to join us with them too! We are also in the process of coming up with an idea for a virtual Coffee and Craft morning to raise money for Mental Health Charity – Mind.

Lots of exciting things to look forward to in the future with us here at SeeTheUniverse and we will be sure to get as many of you involved as possible! Thank you for your ongoing support, it means so much.

Have Hope Always

From Aimee and the Team!
