The Samaritans are an amazing charity who aim to help and support those in need, simply by offering a safe place to open up and speak to someone about whatever it may be that is bothering you! They also have a variety of platforms for you to choose from, as they are aware that some people may not like to talk over the phone or in person.
The Samaritans are not only great for those who may be struggling with their mental health, but they are also there for people who may be going through other troubling times. For example, losing a job, losing a loved one, having a difficult decision to make, feeling stressed or feeling lonely.
I have used The Samaritans before for various reasons and every time I have reached out to them, I have been made to feel welcome, comfortable and at ease. They are a very friendly, non-judgemental bunch of well-trained volunteers, who can offer advice and support whenever it may be needed.
Here is how you can contact them:
- You can visit your local branch! See where you nearest branch is here.
- You can call them, any time, any day, for FREE: 116 123
- You can email them: Jo@samaritans.org (aim to reply within 24 hours)
- You can write to them: FREE POST SAMARITANS (aim to reply within 7-days)
They also have a new Self-Care App! This is great for self-management and keeping track of your mood throughout the day as well as offering you relaxation techniques, interactive activities and a place for you to create a safety plan.
You can use the app via your mobile phone, and via desktop! Here is where you can find it.
Please know that there are always people willing to listen to you. There are always people who care about you and will want to help you. It is okay to reach out for help when you are struggling, we are only human and we will all experience difficult times at some point in our lives. Keep going, it will get better.
You can also reach out to us, either via social media or via email. We aim to reply within 24-hours.
