Autumn is the perfect season for cosying up with a good book! Here are some ways I have made my reading room as cosy and relaxing as possible…
Me and my husband recently bought our first home. It has 3 bedrooms, living room, office and an open plan kitchen / dining room… So Jake has claimed the office downstairs for working from home and also for gaming in the evenings, and I have a room upstairs that we are making into a home library and reading room.
So far, I have decorated the room by painting one wall in baby pink and wallpapering the opposite wall with sage green and pink patterned paper. I was then gifted a cute pink gingham chair and patchwork blanket!
I have a book shelf and an 8-block Kallax unit for book storage so far, but will eventually be putting floor to ceiling shelves on the back wall.
I have warm coloured fairy lights around the book case to create the perfect cosy lighting and I love to curl up on my chair with a hot cup of tea on the side table and a seasonal scented candle burning. I have an Alexa in there for setting up some background music, or sometimes I will put on one of my comfort shows while I read (currently Gilmore Girls!)
I also have a beautiful swivel chair and footstool in the living room which is perfect for cosying up with my kindle while my husband watches TV. It is super comfy and I have my own stack of blankets and a little side table next to it so that I have everything I need on hand… cup of tea, annotation tabs and pens, bookmarks, kindle holder and page turner and much more!
We still have some unpacking to do at the new house but it is definitely starting to feel more and more like a home with each passing day!
