This month I will be walking 10,000 steps every single day in order to raise money towards Cancer Research UK.
Cancer impacts the lives of millions each and every day. I have lost so many loved ones to this horrible disease and it is heartbreaking in each and every way. Some people live for years with Cancer affecting their day-to-day life, some people only see days after their diagnosis. But each and every story is equally as heartbreaking. Even those who beat Cancer have a heartbreaking story to tell and their experience of the disease changes their lives forever.
I want to start taking better care of my physical health as well as my mental health. I want to start taking the gym seriously again and I want to fall in love with myself again. I thought this would be a great challenge for me and a way to keep me motivated. Being active whilst at the same time raising money for a charity that I hold dear to my heart. Raising money for Cancer Research and helping them to find a cure or a better treatment for those with Cancer.
Ten thousand steps will equal to approximately five miles! So throughout March, I am looking at walking at least one hundred and fifty-five miles! To do this I will be encouraging myself to be extra active in work, finding new places to hike around on my days off and doing some treadmill running too! Those who know me well, know that running is a no-go for me, so that alone is going to be challenging. I work in a nursery, so being active during work hours comes naturally to me, but I am going to encourage the children to join in with the fun and crazy activities to help me reach my step count and also as a way of keeping them fit, healthy and active!
I am hoping that by doing this, I not only reach my donation goal of £150 for Cancer Research but that I also start to see a difference within myself. I am super excited for the next 31 days, bring it on!
