There are endless authors and books out there, so these choices may not be for everyone! However, I would love to hear some of your top choices in the comment section below.
Aimee:
I have read a wide range of books recently which have introduced me to various authors and genres. Here are some of my favourites:
– Thriller / Mystery books: These have been very popular this year! Some of my favourite reads were Daisy Darker by Alice Feeney and Wrong Place Wrong Time by Gillian McAllister. Both of these books had incredible twists and they both kept me engaged from start to finish! I would highly recommend these books and these authors.
– Romance: Colleen Hoover… not to everyone’s taste; I feel you either love her writing or you hate it. I for one, love it. My favourite reads by her this year have been November 9 and Reminders of Him.
– Fantasy: This is a genre I am very new to. I did start the Tahereh Mafi Shatter Me series (currently reading Ignite Me the third main book) and I am really enjoying it – I just hope the rest of the series keeps hold of my attention in the same way.
– Young Adult Fiction: I have read some amazing YA books! Girl in Pieces by Kathleen Glasgow was one of my favourite reads last year. This was a heartbreakingly beautiful book based around teenage mental health. Jennifer Niven’s All the Bright Places is my all time favourite book – another heartbreaking book, about two teens struggling with their mental health, coming together and bringing out the best in one another, a budding friendship and love, ending in tragedy.
They Both Die in the End by Adam Silvera – I loved loved loved this book. It made me laugh and it made me cry and it was better than I ever imagined. I am excited to read the prequel ‘The First to Die in the End.
Reading has been the core of my self-care over the last 12-18 months and has had a great impact on my day-to-day life. I never thought that I would become a bookworm again, but I am so glad I chose to pick up a book last year!
