This weekend we surprised my mum for her 50th birthday!
My mum knew that she was going to The Races with my dad and my little brother; but she had no idea that me, Jake and her sister Sheryl would also be tagging along.
We all arrived at her house, dressed to impress and ready to go and she was so surprised and happy! How we all managed to keep it a secret for so long I do not know.
We arrived at The Races at 17:15 and queued outside at The County Stand entrance. Our bags and tickets were checked and we were given our County Stand tag, which allowed us to go in and out.
We found some seats that were perfectly opposite the finishing line. The weather was incredible and the atmosphere was really nice. We were surrounded by other happy faces and people cheering in the hope that their bets would come in.
There were six races in total for the evening and Olly Murs was originally meant to be performing there afterwards; however this was postponed until next year due to the current covid-restrictions. But this did not stop us from having a great time!
Everyone won at least one race… everyone except for me. Luck was certainly not on my side this time around; hopefully when we go next year for Olly Murs my luck will turn.
When we got home; we all sat out in the garden with the Alexa playing songs of our choice while we continued the drinks and chatter.
Before we knew it, the clock struck twelve and we were all ready to call it a night.
I am so glad that my mum enjoyed her surprise and had a lovely evening. I can’t wait to do it all again next year when our original tickets can be used for the racing and Olly Murs!
