The Pumpkin Spice Cafe by Laurie Gilmore – Review

Around this time last year, I read The Pumpkin Spice Cafe by Laurie Gilmore for The Breakfast Bookclub! There were mixed reviews about this one with many people stating it was ‘poorly written/edited.’ However, putting that aside, I found it to be quite an easy, cheasy read!

I enjoyed the vibes that were set in this book: Cosy, Autumn, Coffee Shop, Farm, Small Town Romance… right up my street!

Looking back at my Good Reads, I actually rated this book 4* out of 5* – Reflecting on this now, I would maybe drop this to a 3*

It is a nice book, however I feel it serves best as a palette cleanser in between bigger, more complex storylines.

The Storyline:

Jeanie inherits the cosy Pumpkin Spice Cafe in the small town of Dream Harbour and chooses to pack up her city life to embrace her new adventure.

Logan is the local grumpy (and rather hot) farmer, who chooses to stay away from the small town gossip and keep himself to himself. He wants nothing to do with the new bubbly, happy-go-lucky cafe worker… but yet, he is inexplicably drawn to her.

Will Jeanie’s up-beat attitude win Logan over and break down his walls? Or had Jeanie found the one person in town who refuses to fall for her charm?

This is a nice cosy Autumn read and I will definitely be reading the newest Dream Harbour book this fall: The Cinnamon Bun Book Store.
There are two more Dream Harbour books available for pre-order too:
– The Christmas Tree Farm (Available on 10th October 2024)
– The Strawberry Patch Pancake House (Available on 8th April 2025)
